Holiday Activities

Holiday family fun is happening all season long in Shelby Township and surrounding areas! Here are just a few ideas for all ages:

Gingerbread Barn at Wolcott Mill Metropark
November 26 and 27, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Create your own gingerbread barn fun for the whole family. Supplies will be provided. Preregistration required. For more information call (586) 752-5932 or visit the website.

Tree Trimming at the Shelby Township Library
December 1, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Annual tree trimming event takes place in the library atrium. Children can decorate ornaments to trim the tree or take home. Cookies and refreshments will be served. Learn more.

Christmas Aglow at Shelby Township Municipal Grounds
December 1, 7 p.m.
Family event with many highlights including a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Paw Patrol friends, caroling with the Eisenhower High School Choir, kids crafts, horse-drawn wagon rides, marshmallow roast, refreshments and more. Heritage Holidays at Wolcott Mill Metropark
December 2 and 3, 6-9 p.m.
Bring the entire family to the historical center for holiday fun. Children can make a craft and visit with Santa. There will also be horse-drawn wagon rides, hot chocolate, mulled cider and s’mores. Learn more.

A Pioneer Christmas at Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center
December 3, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
December 4 Noon–4 p.m.
Learn how the pioneers celebrated Christmas. The pioneer cabin will be decorated for Christmas. Crafts and activities for all ages, including old-fashioned ornament sessions. For more information, see page 52 of the Parks and Recreation Newsletter.

Breakfast with Santa at Shelby Community Center
December 3, 9:30 a.m. or 11 a.m.

Wreath Making at Stoney Creek Metropark
December 3 at 11 a.m.

A Sterling Christmas at Doge Park
December 3, 5:45-8:30 pm
A great event for the whole family! Tree lighting, music, visits with Santa, horse-drawn wagon rides, petting farm, pony rides, carousel, train rides, refreshments, campfires and more! Learn more.

Holiday Tree Lighting in Utica
December 4, 6 p.m.
Santa comes to the Utica Fire Station to light the tree and neighboring businesses. Sing carols and enjoy cider and donuts. Learn more.
