10 low-cost tips for organizing your home

Low-cost organization ideas

  1. Use shoe boxes and bank-check boxes (lids and bottoms) as drawer dividers.
  2. Put appliance and other instruction manuals in a three-ring binder. Organize further with tabbed dividers.
  3. Store square-shaped board games and puzzles like books, with a side facing you, so you don’t have to move a stack to get at just one.
  4. Use a craft storage box for hair accessories.
  5. Put a strip of magnetic tape or a magnetic knife holder behind your medicine cabinet door for items like nail clippers, tweezers and scissors.
  6. Store out-of-season clothing in an under bed storage container, or use space saver bags.
  7. Hang a pegboard with hooks in your closet or bedroom wall, and hang up purses, jackets and accessories.
  8. Keep cookie sheets, Tupperware lids and pot lids neat with a file organizer.
  9. Store your bed sheets inside the matching pillow cases.
  10. An old, beat up golf bag makes great storage for gardening tools like rakes and shovels, plus the pockets are perfect for storing smaller items.
