Halloween Activities

Halloween family fun is happening all month long in Shelby Township! Here are just a few ideas for all ages:

Trunk or Treat at Shelby Forest
Shelby Forest will be hosting a Trunk or Treat party on Saturday, October 28 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Come dressed in your costumes. Enjoy a piece of pizza and pop, then go trick-or-treating in the clubhouse parking lot. For more information, call (586) 247-1650.

Fall Color Wagon Tours at Stoney Creek Metropark
October 14, 21 and 28
Experience the fall colors with a guided wagon ride throughout the metropark. Enjoy fall crafts, as well as cider and donuts at the fire. Must be five years old for the wagon ride. All ages welcome for crafts and campfire. Preregister by calling, (586) 781-9113. Learn more.

River Bends Park Halloween Spooktacular
Saturday, October 14, noon-2 p.m.

Fall Family Fun Day at Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center
Sunday, October 15, 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
Something for the entire family, this event includes a campfire cookout, costumed animal characters and wagon rides. See page 62 of the Shelby Twp. Parks and Recreation Newsletter.

Trick or Read at the Shelby Township Library
Thursday, October 19, 6-7-30 p.m.
Come dressed in Halloween costumes for “trick and read” around the library. Stories, crafts and special guest magician Gordon Russ performs a “Spooky Monster Magic Show!” Learn more.

Shelby Township Senior Center’s Hocus Pocus Dinner Dance
Friday, October 20 at 5:30 p.m.
Put together your most excellent Halloween fare and bring your dancing shoes for dancing to the music of the Tri-City Plus. The buffet dinner is served at 6 p.m. Learn more.

Teen Mystery Night at the Shelby Township Library
Friday, October 20, 6-7:30 p.m.
At a roaring 1920’s gala a murder occurs and everyone is a suspect. You are the detective and will investigate evidence, crime scenes and suspects to solve the crime. 1920s era costumes are encouraged. Learn more.

Haunted Nature Center at Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center
Friday and Saturday, October 20-21, 6-8 p.m.
The nature center is transformed into a haunted nature center. Visitors will find scary costumed creatures and spooky scenes. Bring bags for treats. May not be appropriate for younger children. See page 62 of the Shelby Twp. Parks and Recreation Newsletter.

Shelby Township Senior Center’s Spooktacular Luncheon
Thursday, October 26 at 11 a.m.
A Halloween-themed party featuring a mentalist and magician as well as a costume contest. Lunch provided by Da Francesco. Costumes are encouraged (but not required), however, advance tickets are required. Learn more.

Spidermania at Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center
Saturday, October 28, 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
See live spiders and learn about Michigan spiders. There will be a spider craft for kids and adults, a costumed spider character and more! Walk-ins only. Ages four and up. For more information, see page 62 of the Shelby Twp. Parks and Recreation Newsletter.
