Plenty of holiday fun surrounds you!

Holiday Activities

Holiday family fun is happening all season long in Shelby Township and surrounding areas! Here are just a few ideas for all ages:

Gingerbread Barn at Wolcott Mill Metropark
November 25 and 26, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

2nd Annual Santa Scamper 5K at Stoney Creek Metropark
November 26, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Wear your best Santa hat and join in raising money to bring joy to children with pediatric cancer. All proceeds will be used to purchase toys for Children’s Hospital of Michigan and The Ronald McDonald House of Detroit. Hot coca, snacks and chili will be provided. Learn more.

Tree Trimming at the Shelby Township Library
November 30, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
This annual tree trimming event takes place in the library atrium. Children can decorate ornaments to trim the tree or take home. Cookies and refreshments will be served. Learn more.

Heritage Holidays at Wolcott Mill Metropark
December 1-2, 8-9 and 15-16; 6-9 p.m.
Bring the entire family to the historical center for holiday fun. Children can make a craft and visit with Santa. There will also be horse drawn wagon rides, hot chocolate, mulled cider and s’mores. Learn more.

Nature Ornaments & Decorations at Stoney Creek Metropark
December 2, 11 a.m.
Create holiday ornaments and decorations using elements found in nature. For ages 5 and over. Must preregister by calling (586) 781-9113. Learn more.

Caterpillar Club: Snowflakes at Stoney Creek Metropark
December 2, 1 p.m.
Learn about snowflakes and make some to take home. For ages 3-6. Preregistration required, call (586) 781-9113. Learn more.

A Sterling Christmas at Doge Park
December 2, 5:45-8:30 p.m.
A great event for the whole family! Tree lighting, music, visits with Santa, horse-drawn wagon rides, petting farm, refreshments, campfires and more! Learn more.

Holiday Tree Lighting in Utica
December 3, 6 p.m.
Santa comes to the Utica Fire Station to light the tree and neighboring businesses. Sing carols and enjoy cider and donuts. Learn more.

Christmas Aglow at Shelby Township Municipal Grounds
December 7, 7 p.m.
Family event with many highlights including a visit with Santa, The Polar Express train, caroling, kids crafts, horse-drawn wagon rides, marshmallow roast, refreshments and more. For more information, see page 21 of the Parks and Recreation Newsletter.

Breakfast with Santa at Shelby Community Center
December 9, 9:30 a.m. or 11 a.m.

A Pioneer Christmas at Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center
December 9-10, Noon–4 p.m.

December 17, 9 a.m.
Annual 5k run benefiting the Shelby Township Veterans Memorial, Penrickton Center for Blind Children, Cat Tail Acres, Macomb County Special Olympics, Wounded Warriors, Hope Water Project, Shelby Fire/EMS Burn Center and National MPS.
